Served from July '63 - July '67. Tidewater 12/65 - 7/67. Caribean cruise, dry dock in Baltimore, Med Cruise, and 6 day Israli/Arab War. D/C from Crete. Worked 1st Division, and became best great friends w/Terry Karlie. Then became SK# and in charge of Paint & Tool Storeroom. However, due to all my dinking and wild antics, and times at Captain's Mast, I had a Court's Martial and demoted o SK Seaman. I loved the Tidewater, and have fond memories of it and the friends I made on it. Sad when I heard many years ago that it was decommisioned. AFter the Navy, went to college and gained my MSW, and now-a-days, live upstate NY, and have my own counselling business (naturally, specializing in alcohol/drugs), and sober for 27 years. My 2nd marriage, w/three boys, from ages 30 down to 18. Life has been good. Bill, I want to thank you for this great web page. If there's another reunion coming up, please keep me posted.
